How to easily convert your VW T4 early weld on front wings to bolt on!

Quick video explaining how I converted my new early short nose 'weld on' VW T4 pattern front wings to be bolt on instead. The reason I am doing this is because the weld on early wings can be bought for much cheaper than the bolt on equivalents! I bought the wings from carvanbits - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374382880399 Why make them bolt on? Purely from a maintenance point of view, the T4 wings are quite notorious for collecting crap (leaves, debris, moisture) between the outer and inner wings over the span of a few years. The easiest way to prevent this is by removing the wings and cleaning out the inner wing by hand however if the wing is welded on this is not possible. Bolt on wings allow you to fettle and adjust/finesse the panel gaps slightly too. All you need for this conversion is a drill, a rivnut gun and some rivnuts and some bolts (You could use self tappers / tek screws / spire clips too but I prefer to use rivnuts / captive nuts) Any questions please just give me a shout on here or over on instagram ‪@mk2daz‬ Many more T4 restoration videos coming up in the near future as I bring this van back to life!
