Miss Universe 1930 - Yolanda Pereira of Brazil (Colorized)

Yolanda Pereira, representing Brazil in the international beauty contest held at Rio de Janeiro yesterday, has been chosen as Miss Universe. Elaborate ceremonies were held at the Municipal Building with the entire city council present when Miss Brazil was crowned the world's most beautiful girl. In addition to rich presents from the city council the new Miss Universe also received $10,000. Miss Portugal and Miss Greece, named as second and third, each received $1,000. Miss United States was not listed among the first ten beauties selected by the jury, composed largely of Latins, who frankly admitted they were unable to appreciate the blonde Nordic type.
