The United States Trade Representative's Office held public hearings on Monday and Tuesday (6th and 7th) regarding the proposed tariffs on Brazilian exports. Participants included companies, representatives from Brazilian productive sectors, and even a presidential pre-candidate. Flávio Bolsonaro spoke for less than 5 minutes and reinforced the argument that the tariffs would electorally benefit the current government. Later, speaking to Brazilian journalists, he stated that he wants the measure "cancelled," not postponed, as he suggested in the letter sent to the Office last week. Multinational giants such as Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Tesla, and eBay sent representatives requesting that there be no surcharge on Brazilian products. The US government's decision is expected by July 15th.
