$5 LIONEL SCOUT TENDER RESTORATION WAS IT WORTH IT ?

Lionel Scout Tender Restoration, Lionel Train Repair, and Postwar Lionel Trains are what this channel is all about, and this project turned out to be one of the most interesting restorations I've tackled in a while. Right before Christmas, I purchased a box of Lionel trains from a widow who told me these were her late husband's childhood trains from the 1950s. After restoring the battery-acid damaged locomotive and the Lionel Scout 1110, it was finally time to work on the matching Scout tender. What started as a simple rust-removal and touch-up project quickly turned into wet sanding, masking, paint experiments, tape residue, repainting, and plenty of trial and error. Along the way, I learned a few lessons about paint matching, preserving original lettering, and what not to do during a restoration. In this video, I'll show you the entire process from rusty tender to finished restoration, including the mistakes, surprises, and lessons learned along the way. Was all this work worth it for a $5 Lionel Scout tender?
