Rebel on the Road - A Ride to the Birthplace of Jose Rizal

José Rizal (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino nationalist, writer, physician, and polymath who is widely regarded as the national hero of the Philippines. Born in Calamba, Laguna, to Francisco Rizal Mercado and Teodora Alonso Realonda, Rizal became the face of the Philippine independence movement through his literary works and political activism against Spanish colonial rule. We went to his house, where he was born and experienced a bit of the way of life - his way of life - from the 19th century. Before this, we tried to go to the Philippine School of the Arts in Los Banos, but were not allowed to enter the compound with our bikes. A walk from the gate to the school would have been a 3 km uphill struggle in 34 degress Celsius. And we went to one of the hot springs in Los Banos to take a rest before returning home.
