ARCHAEOLOGICAL REMAINS AT VIGHAKOT: TESTIMONY OF OUR GLORIOUS PAST IN THE WESTERN GREAT RANN

We are trying to bring out the cultural evidences that are scattered in the Great Rann. A site that was discovered by Dr. P S Thakkar way back in early 2000 was subsequently explored by us many times. Finally with the active participation of Kachchh University under the guidance of Prof M G Thakkar (currently Director, BSIP Lucknow), and his active team particularly Prof Gaurav Chauhan, exploration in the Great Rann is continuing. Interestingly we find that the Great Western Rann was hospitable in phases between 3200 year BP to 2300 year BP and than gain around 1100 year BP. The question was the Rann different than what it is today, or does Rann provided climate refugia, or is there any chance of getting cultural continuity in the Rann which so far is missing? These are the question we are trying to find answers to.
