In this video I show how to set front wheel toe at home, fix twitchy steering, reduce tyre wear and dramatically improve handling after fitting coilovers or modifying suspension. If you’ve lowered your car, fitted aftermarket suspension, changed track rod ends or worked on steering components, this video shows one of the most important alignment jobs you can do yourself. Front toe alignment has a huge effect on how stable a car feels on the road and how quickly it destroys tyres, yet it’s often knocked out of spec after fitting coilovers or altering ride height. I’m using a Vevor Wheel Alignment kit to measure and adjust the front toe accurately at home, without the need for a professional alignment rig. I explain what wheel toe is, how it differs from camber and caster, and why toe is the alignment setting that matters most for everyday road driving. Lowering this car introduced significant toe-out, which made it nervous, darty and unpleasant to drive, even though everything else was mechanically sound. Using the Vevor alignment plates and matching tape measures, I show how to measure front toe correctly, how to read the measurements, and how to match them to the manufacturer’s factory specification. Although this car is modified, returning the toe to the standard BMW setting provides a reliable baseline for a lowered suspension setup and makes the car far more predictable on the road. The adjustment itself is done by altering the track rod ends evenly on both sides, settling the suspension properly, and re-measuring until the correct toe-in figure is achieved. Even on a very low car, this is a straightforward DIY job if you take your time and work methodically. After setting the toe, the improvement in handling is immediate. The car tracks straight, feels calmer at speed and no longer needs constant steering correction. A follow-up measurement after a test drive confirms the alignment has settled correctly. If you’re interested in DIY wheel alignment, suspension geometry, coilover setup, steering feel or saving money on tyre wear, this video shows how effective a proper front toe adjustment can be. The Vevor plates are accurate, affordable and ideal for anyone who regularly works on their own car. There’s a link in the description with a discount if you’d like to pick up a set yourself. If you have been following the series so far, thank you for sticking with it, and if you are new to the project this is a good point to see how a home garage respray can turn a tired BMW E36 into something completely different.
