The adjustment itself is done by altering the track rod ends evenly on both sides, settling the suspension properly, and re-measuring until the correct toe-in figure is achieved. Even on a very low car, this is a straightforward DIY job if you take your time and work methodically. After setting the toe, the improvement in handling is immediate. The car tracks straight, feels calmer at speed and no longer needs constant steering correction. A follow-up measurement after a test drive confirms the alignment has settled correctly.
