Shin Pokémon Green - Elite Four & Champion (Hard Mode + Stadium Rules)
Hard Mode (CPU has Stat EXP and high DVs) Set Battle Mode Smart AI Swaps Sleep Clause Freeze Clause Items Clause Trapping Move Clause timestamps: 0:00 Lorelei 3:12 Bruno 5:12 Agatha 9:36 Lance 14:00 Champion In the original games, it's more than possible to beat the Elite Four and Champion under-leveled. In fact, most Pokemon games kind of expect you to be under the levels of late-game trainers and put in many safety cushions to help the player. Badges give an invisible 12.5% boost to your stats. AI opponents typically don't have any Stat EXP (or EVs in Gen 3 onward), and their DVs are average all around. Doing this on Hard mode while under-leveled made this exceptionally more challenging, as all those accommodations are gone. The jump in levels actually becomes a difficulty spike here. In addition, I had other clauses in place to have battles play more like Pokemon Stadium. The first three battles are manageable enough, but Lance is where things can go south. With Smart AI Swaps ON, Lance goes from being pathetic to the most deserving of having the 4th spot in the E4. Those 2 Dragonair with their many resistances make for good switch-ins, and Aerodactly has ended runs for me, despite its lack of Rock type moves. The champion stumped me so many times and is the sole reason I had to grind to Lv55+ to even get the LUCKY win that I got here. Realistically, I probably would've needed to go up to 60 for a more consistent win. I had to turn off Alt Trainer Movesets just for this battle.
