“My Scars Have Given Me A Purpose” - Athlete On Her Facial Disfigurement | Myprotein
Athlete & activist Phyllida Swift refuses to be pitied for her facial scars. Instead, she believes that they have given her life purpose. At 22 years old, Phyllida Swift was in a car accident that left her with several broken bones and permanent facial scarring. Suddenly she was exposed to living with the social stigma that surrounds scars and facial disfigurements, but says this actually became her driving force to prove others wrong and campaign for change. Determined to challenge other people’s perceptions, she began talking about her experience with the charity, Changing Faces UK. Now, she’s the CEO of Face Equality International, where she leads the conversation globally. Not long after her recovery, she found her love for functional fitness — discovering a supportive community where she was only judged for what her body could do, not how it looked. Her incredible story is another example that together we can be United By Ambition. ********************************* Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Myprotei...
