Mooka Panchashati 1: Āryā Shatakam

Mooka Panchashati is a poetic explosion of divine expression was authored by a deaf-mute boy. The son of Vidyavati, he lived in Mokshapuri Kanchipuram. Kamakshi Ambal bestowed Her compassion on this boy and the floodgates of poetic expression were opened. The boy earned the title Mooka Kavi, or mute poet. Hearing his divine description of every aspect of breathtaking Kamakshi and her infinite compassion, the then 19th Peethathipathi of the over 2500 year Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Pujyashree Martanda Vidyaghanendra Saraswati, received the consent of the boy's parents and ordained him as Pujyashree Muka Shankarendra Sarasvati Shankarāchārya Svami, the 20th Ācharya of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. The Āryā Shatakam is the first hundred verses. Anyone who hears these will be cured of speech impediments.
