Sheikh Hamdan (فزاع 𝙁𝙖𝙯𝙯𝙖) honours winners Award for Innovation in Projects Management

10 December, 2019 - His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, honoured winners. of the 3rd Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Innovation in Projects Management (HBMAIPM) at the closing session of the 6th Dubai International Projects Management Forum (DIPMF). The awards ceremony was held at the Madinat Arena in Madinat Jumeirah in the presence of key executives from public and private entities. His Highness and other attendees watched a movie about DIPMF which recapped the fast-paced development drive and rise of Dubai. Another movie highlighted the HBMAIPM aimed at rewarding innovation in projects management, providing a database for best practices and models of projects management, and creating a platform for sharing innovative ideas among industry influencers. Later, His Highness, accompanied by HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, honoured the winners of the HBMAIPM. In the Individual category, the winner of the Innovative Project Manager award was Michael Rogers, from Lam Research Corporation, USA for a project named: Service Products Order Fulfillment. The project enables the ordering, assembly, and fulfilment of a new service product for Lam Research Corporation, a leader in semiconductor wafer-fabrication-equipment manufacturing. A team was utilised for software development using agile techniques to build financial and logistics processes. Michael’s methodology innovations ensured that the most effective project management and leadership methods were used during each phase and sub-project. The implementation of the project increased the usage of the product by over 10% and users reported over 30% increase in their own productivity. In the Innovative PMO Manager award, the winner was Maged El-Hawary from ASGC. The company started transforming its operations to accommodate bigger and more complicated projects. More reliable ways and standard processes for project planning were needed which marked the need for a project controls function. The virtual design, construction and animation of the project created a single comprehensive model consisting of a 3D model combined with time (construction schedule), cost (project budget) and realistic construction methodology.
