Resilience Engineering for Systems Engineering - Part 1

This video works through how systems engineering has adapted and evolved throughout the last 40 years. Starting with Three Mile Island, David Woods moves between theory and events that he was personally a part of as well as those that he has studied. He turns the lens of Resilience Engineering on the discipline of systems engineering itself, documenting how it has evolved and adapted over this timespan as teams of systems engineers faced issues and challenges that forced them to adapt their practices, which in turn influenced the discipline to evolve and adapt. As with all complex adaptive systems, those adaptations both enabled and stifled potential future adaptations, leaving the discipline flexible in some ways and stuck in others. Part 1 of 2.
