VIDEO Günter Bodenstein (born August 9, 1942, in Wienrode; died August 19, 2015) was the drum major of the outstanding marching band of the Berlin City Commandant's Office from 1971 to 1988. He brought this ensemble to a high musical and formal level that has not been nearly reached since. In stark contrast to today's drum majors in the German Armed Forces, who have neglected this historical genre of military music since its inception, Bodenstein was a passionate and dedicated musician from a young age and possessed the necessary expertise.
