Fitting New Fuel Cap, Petcock & Installing The Gas Tank On My Honda CB750 Project Bike | Part 26

Fitting New Fuel Cap, Petcock & Installing The Gas Tank On My Honda CB750 Project Bike | Part 26 In this episode, I fit a reproduction fuel cap and petcock to my Honda CB750 project motorcycle. I am building this bike to be a road-going runner, not a full restoration. #ad Here's what we used in this video (affiliate links). When I bought this CB750 project bike it came with a tank that had been repainted but didn’t have a fuel cap or petcock fitted. Checking through the parts that came with it there was a fuel cap and a petcock, but both had parts missing and were not in very good condition. Having checked the prices to buy the parts missing I came to the conclusion it would be more cost-effective to replace the fuel cap and petcock completely. To fit the fuel cap I had to clean paint from the holes where the pins connect it to the tank. It went together pretty easily. I used a little anaerobic sealant to make sure the tap didn’t leak where it attaches to the tank. The benefit of this over sealant is that it stays soft if it gets mixed in with the fuel so should block anything up. In hindsight, I should have probably given the inside of the tank a bit more of a clean, but it did seem pretty good from what I could see through the filler kneck.
