"I was adopted at a week old, and growing up with no-one around me that looked like me; I would often feel alone -- as if I was some kind of little alien creature that had landed in this place and wasn't sure how I got there." Brioni grew up knowing that she was adopted. "I'm really grateful to my family for telling me early on, so that I grew up knowing." "As far as I discovered for both myself and other adoptees; being adopted does come with a sense of not-belonging, of being alone.
