40,000 board feet per Shift! Huntsville Forest Products Sawmill Tour

Touring a full-scale commercial sawmill operation is one of those highlights I look forward to whenever the opportunity comes up. Today is a good day as I visit the Huntsville Forest Products sawmill located in Huntsville Ontario Canada. This hardwood sawmill is an impressive operation taking a variety of hardwood logs from much of the surrounding countryside and turns it into a variety of hardwood lumber varieties. You'll see the whole process today from the start of the log to the finished lumber as we head on inside and see the expert sawyers at work. Check out the automation and lasers that help the lumber experts do their job in a way that maximizes yield and efficiency. After watching this sawmill in action I start to reflect on the sheer size of this operation and how my sawmill is just a drop-in-the-bucket compared to the board feet produced ere in one day.
