EM ICE - Workflows in Every Direction

Presented By: Seth Villarreal Speaker Biography: Seth Villarreal is an Advanced Workflow Specialist in the nanotechnology products of Leica Microsystems, providing training and assistance with protocol refinement across a variety of room temperature and cryo-workflows. Seth performs extensive hands-on and virtual training in assisting the preparation of samples for research involving electron microscopy. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University, through single particle cryoTEM research in the areas of DNA repair and circadian rhythm, and then a subsequent fellowship at NINDS of the NIH to study vesicle fusion by TEM from primary cell culture. Webinar: EM ICE - Workflows in Every Direction Webinar Abstract: High pressure freezing offers versatile and deep capability in the study of intricate changes in fine structure or cellular dynamics. From the internals of a single cell to complex layers within small whole organisms, the EM ICE occupies a key point in many electron microscopy (EM) workflows. These workflows extend from correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) methods to straightforward freeze substitution by resin embedding for ultramicrotomy.
