Pakistan PM Imran Khan meets Chinese counterpart

(8 Oct 2019) Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan was welcomed in Beijing by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, as he began a two-day visit to China on Tuesday. The two leaders held bilateral talks and witnessed the signing of agreements on China's aid to Pakistan and cooperation in maritime law enforcement, culture and infrastructure, in the framework of China's Belt-and-Road initiative. It is Khan's third visit to China since he became prime minister, amid tensions with India after New Delhi ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August. Beijing, an ally of Islamabad, has backed Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. Khan will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.
