How do you bathe chickens? Normally, never. But I'd like to mention three exceptions: 1. A white chicken is supposed to look its best at a poultry show. 2. A chicken is so dirty that several rain showers and dust baths wouldn't clean it on its own (and this bothers the owner). 3. A chicken is more than moderately infested with ectoparasites, especially feather lice (which eat feathers and dander) and the northern fowl mite (which sucks blood). If dusting with diatomaceous earth, whitewashing the coop, dust bathing, and occasional treatments with spot-on drops or Ballistol no longer work, then a chicken bath with dog flea shampoo can work wonders. That's exactly what I documented for you in this video. One of my Crevecoeur pullets had a slightly crooked face and was probably heavily infested with feather lice and the northern fowl mite because of that. But that's history now! While bathing this hen, I also discovered earplugs in both ears. These pea-sized plugs had blocked her ears. I carefully removed them while bathing her.
