The history of this temple of Ujjain is very interesting and the turban (crown) worn by the Lord is that of King Shinde or Scindia of Gwalior. Shree Kaalbhairav Mandir : It is said that Kaal Bhairav Temple was built by King Bhadrasen on the banks of Shipra River. This ancient temple is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, the chief among the eight Bhairavs. The worship of eight Bhairavs is a part of the Saivati tradition and the chief among them is Kaal Bhairav, believed to be built on the banks of Shipra by King Bhadrasena. A Kaal Bhairava temple is mentioned in the Avanti section of the Skanda Purana. The worship of Kaal Bhairav is believed to have been a part of the Kapalika and Aghora sects. Ujjain was a major center of both these sects. Even today, liquor is offered to Kaal Bhairava as a part of the ritual. Beautiful paintings in the Malwa style once decorated the walls of the temple, of which only traces are visible. Another devotee Dharmendra Nath told that Baba Kalbhairav is in the form of Aughad and offers liquor to Aughad. People offer liquor to Baba to eliminate sins, faults and evils. All wishes are fulfilled and there are benefits as well. GADKALIKA MATA MANDIR: This temple is located near KAALA BHIRAV temple in Ujjain. The deity in this temple MAA KAALI is also known as UJJAIN MAHAKALI. The temple is very famous as it is believed that the great poet Mahakavi Kalidas worshiped this deity. It is one of the Sakthi peetas. Shipra Nadi / Ram Ghat: UJJAIN is known for various ghats along the holy river SHIPRA. Ram ghat is one of the famous ghats among them. Kumbh melas performed here are well known. Ram Ghat is oldest and holiest Ghat. Shipra Aarthi being conducted here every day around 1830 hours is very divine and attractive,. The sunset view here is awesome and unforgettable.
