Pêche de la truite au ver : c'est l'abondance !

It's trout season opener! We're fishing in a beautiful stream in Ille-et-Vilaine, hoping to catch the lovely trout that live there. There's a healthy population of brown trout. Rainbow trout have also been stocked, so it's possible to catch both species using today's technique: fly fishing. This involves presenting a worm in the current. It's a tactile fishing method: when the fish bites, the angler feels a characteristic "tap," which is where the technique gets its name. We're having a great catch! We're catching both rainbow and brown trout of a decent size. The fishing technique is explained. I'm also taking advantage of this successful opening day to present the two species and the differences between the genera Oncorhynchus and Salmo.
