Calls For A New Royal Yacht To Be Commissioned And Named After Prince Philip
Since the death of Prince Philip, there have been calls for a new royal yacht to be commissioned, bearing his name. The former Royal Yacht Britannia, which was retired in 1997, transported the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh on 968 state visits, covering 700,000 miles over more than four decades. Retired Vice Admiral John McAnally was one of the naval officers on board and remembers the time he spent at sea with the royal family.
