SHOWCASE CINEMA Smashed Up Attraction

This seems to be the hottest place in town for people to let out some agression and perform fantasies to destroy things. Thats a shame in a way but I guess its all being demolished and nothing will be saved so what can one say. They are planning to put a school and houses on this site before the end of 2021 so this place will be a pile of rubble soon. vThe Showcase cinema at Belle Vue has closed for good and is to be demolished to make way for a brand new secondary school it has been confirmed. The free school, which will be run by the Co-Op and will eventually take in 1,200 pupils, will accept its first set of Year 7 students next September. They will be taught in temporary accommodation until the new school building, which local kids will help design, is opened in 2023. Meanwhile the cinema chain say they "remain fully committed to the city" and are currently in talks over a new, unnamed location. The landmark 14-screen, cinema which opened on the site of the famous Belle Vue entertainment complex in October 1989, closed along with all other cinemas in the country when the coronavirus pandemic hit in March. They had already agreed to sell the land to Manchester City Council to build a new school for pupils aged 11 to 16.
