Strapping the Greyhound Carpus (wrist) - The Why and How.

The carpus (wrist) of the racing greyhound is a common site for injury with approximately 70% localised to the right side which is the outer and harder working limb loaded during circle racing. This video demonstrates the examination technique used to detect the overstretching or laxity of the carpal soft tissues that may cause pain and reduced performance as well as potentially predispose to the more serious injuries to the underlying bones. The use of strapping to support the damaged soft tissues of joints in racing greyhounds was recommended for Hocks , in 2025, by the dual administrators of NSW racing. The carpal strapping used in this video was developed from the input of NSW trainers Charlie Mykenos and Andy Lord. Demonstrator is Dr David Larratt from Richmond Vet (Sires on Ice). https://www.greyhoundtarsalscreening....
