Drini Beach is one of the special beaches on the Gunungkidul coast because of a small island in the middle, dividing the beach into two parts. It's said that the island is abundant with santigi (Pemphis acidula), or "Drini" for short, which is what the locals call it. That's why the beach and island are named Drini. When the tide is low, you can go to the island in the middle of the beach. There's a connecting bridge that leads to the top of the hill or island. From here, you can take in the entire Drini Beach, taking in the mountains of reeds from the gazebo roofs and rows of fishing boats. Everything looks beautiful from above. Now, there are no more Drini trees; only sea pandan (Pandanus tectorius) grows on the island. This island also separates the east and west sides of the beach into two distinct characters. Like a human with a dual personality, one side is calm and gentle, while the other is harsh and fierce. To the east of the beach, the cliffs line up majestically, standing tall. According to research, an underground river once flowed into Drini Beach. Its flow carried black sand, which can still be seen today. Drini Beach is also a traditional fishing village.
