The biggest swell of the year lit up J-Bay and the local crew answered the call. A powerful, high-energy pulse with a clean southerly direction saw lines stacking to the horizon and detonating down the point. At times it was simply too big—raw, unforgiving, and definitely one to separate the men from the boys. Standout performances came from Sean Holmes and Daniel Emslie, who looked right at home in the heavy conditions. Ballito visitors Janek Ferrandi and Marcello Zedde made the most of the trip, charging hard and finding their rhythm in the chaos. The usual local chargers Warren Dean, Daniel Thornton, Rory Dace and Jomo Hardeman put on a clinic in commitment and wave selection, showing exactly why they’re so respected in solid J-Bay surf.
