Foam RC Backyard Flyer for Newbies Follow along as I discuss design and build philosophy for the foam RC backyard flyer. I drew the TurboCAD plans, build the airplane and had a flight test all in one afternoon. Free backyard flyer plans are included, so you can build this beginner RC airplane for yourself. The back yard flyer is a great example of a DIY RC plane easy to make. The wingspan is 24 inches and I demonstrate an easy way to incorporate an airfoil with the wing structure. A foam RC airplane can be built quickly with the use of a hot glue gun. I use the ParkZone line of micro RC electronics, placed as far forward as possible for the correct center of gravity location.
