South Photographers is a documentary web series that explores the stories and creative processes of leading figures in Chilean photography. The project is funded by the 2025 Audiovisual Development Fund. Jorge Brantmayer (1954) is a photographer with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Chile. He completed his training in professional photography at the Escuela de Foto Arte in Santiago, Chile. His solo exhibitions include Cautivas (2007-2008) at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Valdivia. He also worked on the Muchedumbres project, which began in 2011 and has led to several exhibitions in Chile and abroad. His work Amerindia was exhibited on the façade of the Pre-Columbian Museum in Santiago, Chile, and later formed part of the exhibition Otrxs Fronterxs at the Museum of Memory in Santiago in 2019. His exhibition Fragilidades y Excesos brings together theatrical documentation produced for Mundo Diners magazine between 1983 and 1992. His work “Rostros de Punta Arenas” was projected simultaneously on three emblematic buildings in the city of Punta Arenas, bringing together the faces of 800 inhabitants of the city.
