Applying for dual citizenship in Sri Lanka involves choosing between Resumption (for those who already lost it) or Retention (for those about to obtain another citizenship). 1. Determine Your Eligibility Category You must qualify under one of these primary categories: Age: Over 55 years old. Professional: Minimum one-year diploma or higher qualification. Assets: Owning immovable property in Sri Lanka worth LKR 2.5 million or more. Fixed Deposit: LKR 2.5 million or more in a Sri Lankan bank for 3 years. Foreign Currency Deposit: USD 25,000 or more in a NRFC/RFC/SFIDA account for 3 years. Investment: USD 25,000 or more in Treasury Bonds for 3 years.
