La avenida Córdoba es una importante arteria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Su nombre rinde homenaje a la provincia argentina de Córdoba. Recorre 8,2 km a través de 9 barrios de la ciudad, siendo una avenida divisoria de los mismos. Desde 1822, un decreto estableció que desde la avenida Callao al oeste la arteria debía tener un ancho de 30 varas, pero en el tramo céntrico llegando hasta la actual Avenida Alem, era una calle angosta desde tiempos coloniales. Recién en julio de 1904 una ordenanza municipal obligó el retiro de las nuevas edificaciones, permitiendo el ensanche del tramo Callao-Alem por etapas, inaugurado en 1945 por el dictador Edelmiro Farrell, como lo recuerda una placa en la plazoleta de Córdoba y Callao. En el total de su recorrido, la circulación vehicular es hacia el lado ascendente a su numeración, de este a oeste (solía ser de doble mano antes de los 70). Entre las avenidas Leandro Alem y Medrano posee dos carriles para la circulación exclusiva de las líneas de colectivos 7, 26, 29, 39, 45, 99, 106, 109, 115, 132, 151, 168 y taxis Por debajo de un sector de la avenida corre la Línea D de subterráneos. Existe un proyecto a largo plazo para que la Línea G recorra por debajo de gran parte de esta avenida. Córdoba Avenue is an important artery in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its name pays homage to the Argentine province of Córdoba. It runs 8.2 km through 9 neighborhoods of the city, being a dividing avenue between them. Since 1822, a decree established that from Callao Avenue to the west the artery should have a width of 30 varas, but in the central section reaching the current Alem Avenue, it was a narrow street since colonial times. It was only in July 1904 that a municipal ordinance forced the removal of the new buildings, allowing the expansion of the Callao-Alem section in stages, inaugurated in 1945 by the dictator Edelmiro Farrell, as recalled by a plaque in the square of Córdoba and Callao. Throughout its route, vehicular circulation is towards the ascending side of its numbering, from east to west (it used to be two-way before the 70s). Between Leandro Alem and Medrano avenues, it has two lanes for the exclusive circulation of bus lines 7, 26, 29, 39, 45, 99, 106, 109, 115, 132, 151, 168 and taxis. Below a sector of the avenue runs the subway Line D. There is a long-term project for Line G to run under much of this avenue.
