Located on the banks of River Vansadhara, this is known as 'Dakshina Kashi'. 🔱 The 3 Main Temples: 1. Sri Mukhalingeshwar Temple - Main Temple The most important temple here. The unique 'Mukhalingam' has a carved face of Lord Shiva on the Shivling. Built in Kalinga style with intricate carvings. This is the center of the Ashta-Dikpal complex. 🔱 Key Highlights: 1. Mukhalingam: The main Shivling is unique - it has a carved face of Lord Shiva on it 2. Dakshina Kashi: Located on the banks of River Vamsadhara, it's called the 'Kashi of the South' 3. Ashta-Dikpal: The main temple is surrounded by 8 Shiva temples in 8 directions - Indreshwar, Agneeshwar, Yameshwar, Nairutishwar, Varuneshwar, Vayaveeshwar, Kubereshwar, Ishaneshwar 4. Kalinga Architecture: Similar craftsmanship to Odisha's Konark & Lingaraj temples 2. Sri Bhimeshwar Temple Dedicated to Lord Shiva as Bhimeshwar. Known for its massive architecture and detailed stone sculptures. The temple shikhara is built in typical Kalinga rekha deul style. Less crowded than the main temple but equally historic. 3. Sri Someshwar Temple The third temple in the complex dedicated to Someshwar form of Shiva. Features beautiful carvings of gods, goddesses and mythical figures on the outer walls.
