The Most Remote Campsite In America (Outside Alaska) | Backpacking Wind River
I filmed this video in the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming after dreaming of making this voyage for years. With limited beta I set my basecamp up between Spider Lake and Angel Pass. I set off into the rising sun early in the morning heading East over the Continental Divide. After feeling accomplished briefly at the apex of Angel Pass I drop down into a windswept vast lake filled basin devoid of trees. I get lost during my day of navigation and end up on Dennis Lake. I realize that I am lost at this point so I pull out the map and determine I'm at least 3 miles off course before correcting my direction. I navigate down a steep off trail cliff face that was wet, ledged out, and dangerous. Eventually I make it down to lakeside and find my campsite on Upper Golden Lake. We spend the next day exploring the area around Quintet Mountain, Upper Golden Lake, Lake Louise, and Golden Lake. This was a once in a lifetime journey and I'm honored to share this with you.
