REMASTERED footage of 23yr old Hicham El Guerrouj from Morocco, bettered the previous mark of 3:27:37 which had been set by Algeria’s Noureddine Morceli almost three years ago to the day, on 12 July 1995, in Nice. Hicham's split times were: 400m 0.55; 800: 1:50.73; 1100: 2:32.73, 1200: 2:46.34 53.03 for the last 400m 39.66 seconds for the last 300 metres! This race was the equivalent of two 1:50 min 800 m performances back to back!
