The Gold Rush - from Tony Rice’s Church Street Blues 1983

I’m getting myself in the zone to teach a five week Zoom class on Tony Rice’s seminal 1983 (mostly) solo album, Church Street Blues. We’ll be diving deep into the first eight tracks on the record as well as placing it in the context of Tony’s music and bluegrass guitar traditions in general. Two classes will feature special guests, notable guitarists with strong connections to the album and Tony’s style. Class meets Sundays April 7 to May 5, with two sections to choose from — 12:30pm OR 5pm Eastern. In addition to in-class instruction, students will receive extensive materials including exacting written transcriptions, recap videos, audio backing tracks, and access to Zoom recordings of each class session.
