Ernest Bannister - Memories of an Evacuee at Rudyard
Ernest Bannister and his brother James were evacuees, sent from Manchester to Rudyard in 1939. In 2019, Ernest visited the lake again to speak with Ray Perry about his time in the village (with some amusing disagreements about where he would have stayed!). Ernest sadly passed away last month and Ray was pallbearer at his funeral so it seems like a good time to share!
