Calliope and Nickelodeon promos- April 10, 1980

Some rare, and very early, promos from Calliope and Nickelodeon, two of the earliest children's programming services on American cable TV. Calliope, founded by Kay Koplovitz, began in September 1978 as a part time service on United Artists Cablevision, and later became a key component of the USA Network. The Calliope promo features host Gene discussion a documentary on jazz, while the Nickelodeon promo is a modified version of the 1980 promo reel already uploaded to this channel.
