Daridel - Song 6

Performed Jan 18, 2025 at Brevard Renaissance Festival Daridel is band from Northern Italy formed at the end of 2018. They've played more than 300 shows between Italy, Europe, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, brought together by their passion for folk music and the traditions of ancient Europe. They're Europe singing its ancestral song: instruments that couldn't be more diverse merge with each other to make new sounds, tribal rhythms that weave themselves with sweet melodies. Flutes and harps tell stories of fairies and imps. Bold bagpipes side by side with hurdy-gurdy melodies. Great drums that make spirits dance. Bones rattle, wood rasps, horns bellow in a frenzy of natural sounds. It is a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth, of sweet melodies and aggressive hymns that come together in a macabre song of life. A journey amongst arcane and forgotten melodies, ancient instruments; a path through the centuries of darkness and light of a pagan Europe. Tribal rhythms, influenced by medieval sounds and by what we usually call Celtic music, that pushes our wildest selves out of hiding.
