The Rock-Solid Life By Joel Settecase (Matthew 7:24–27)

What foundation is your life built on? In Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus tells the parable of two builders. Both hear His words. Both build a house. Both face the same rain, floods, and winds. But only one house remains standing because it was built on the rock. This message explains that a life able to withstand life’s storms is not built on outward religion, self-reliance, or good works alone. It is built on genuine faith in Jesus Christ—a faith that produces obedience and continues seeking to hear from Him through His Word. Jesus calls us beyond merely hearing biblical teaching. True discipleship involves hearing Christ, believing Christ, obeying Christ, and growing in our desire to know what He commands. Salvation is not earned by works; it is received by grace through faith in Jesus. Yet genuine faith changes the way we live. Storms will come through temptation, suffering, rejection, uncertainty, and eventually death itself. But Christ is a foundation that holds. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus gives His people lasting hope, real security, and a faith that can stand when everything else is shaken.
