In current long term ownership since 2002 Benefiting from an engine overhaul in c.2010 Self-evidently restored to a high standard and presenting well today Fitted with the original engine (W59E) and body, to Design Number 7120 Offered with a history file, Silver Wraith owner's manual, advisory free MOT and V5C document Produced between 1946 and 1959, the Silver Wraith was the last Rolls-Royce to be delivered in chassis form alone, of which a total of 1883 were produced – 1,244 with 117in wheelbase and 639 with 133in wheelbase that was standard from 1953. Many were purchased for official duties and featured formal limousine-style coachwork, with a large number serving as state cars for the Dutch, Danish and Greek royal households and the Irish and Brazilian presidencies. The capacity of the straight-six engine rose from an initial 4257cc to 4566cc in 1951 and was further increased to 4887cc during 1954. Early examples were only available with four-speed manual transmissions, but from 1952 there was the option of a General Motors automatic. The model has frequently starred on the silver screen, making appearances in ‘Witness for the Prosecution', ‘The Return of the Pink Panther', ‘Arthur', ‘Batman' and ‘Batman Returns', to name but a few of its many movie credits. Chassis No WME 26, bodied to design number 7120, was delivered new to Major General Sir John Marriott in April 1951. Understood to be one of thirteen Silver Wraith's bodied to this style, HSU 472 is in fine overall condition with straight body panels, paint in very good order and glimmering brightwork. Having been in current long term ownership since 2002 the car benefits from an engine overhaul in c.2010 which included new camshafts, valves, pistons and crankshaft (mileage 38,230). Furthermore, the brakes were overhauled in 2017. Now showing c.39,000 miles covered and self-evidently restored to a high standard, it presents well, retaining its original engine (W59E) and body.
