It's hard to put into words just how magical the Watts Towers of Simon Rodia are. The work of a single man, spanning 34 years of constant work, these towers are made of humanity's detritus – shards of glass, bits of tile, shells. But they add up to something transcendent, an example of how trash can turn into art, and how a vision sustained long enough can live beyond the visionary. You just gotta see this place.
