Mid-September in Desolation Sound Marine Park - Roffey Island Anchorage - BC Boating Adventures 2025

2025 Boating Video Playlist -    • Boating Summer 2025 Coastal British Columbia   In mid-September, we set out from our base in Lund into Desolation Sound Marine Park for our final boating adventure of the season. After resupplying in Powell River and weathering a quick rainstorm at the dock, we cruised past the Copeland Islands, soaking in the stunning mountain views and kayaker camps along the way. We skipped the crowded summer spots like Prideaux Haven and Melanie Cove, now blissfully empty with just a handful of boats, and squeezed into the tiny, peaceful anchorage at Roffey Island, anchoring in 10-12 meters with our 44lb anchor amid rocky shallows. The water hit a swimmable 65°F on a balmy 80°F day, so we took a refreshing dip and explored by dinghy, spotting seals and enjoying the solitude.
