Origami: Beyond the Paper Crane | Guy Parker | TEDxYouth@Frankston

Origami is more than just making paper cranes. From a young age origami has been a passion and creative pursuit for Guy but as his skills developed he has discovered how the application of origami principles can be used for a variety of purposes. In this talk Guy explores how the understanding of origami principles can be used for more than just creative pursuits and can be applied to better design objects from furniture to space travel. Guy is an artist, barista and Industrial Design student based in Melbourne. Throughout the years he has worked on farms, in construction and as a chef. As an artistic medium his primary choice is paper. He has exhibited work in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. Origami has been a lifelong creative pursuit, meditation, toy, tool and art. In the area of design he has applied concepts and techniques into lighting design, furniture and ceramics.
