Courtney Barnett covers The Breeders: "Cannonball"

Australian singer-guitarist Courtney Barnett seemed to come out of nowhere last year with a pair of fantastic EPs that were collected in the States as The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. Her laid-back delivery brought some Pavement comparisons, but that doesn’t tell the whole story—especially live, where Barnett and her trio rev things up considerably. The Breeders’ 1993 classic seemed like a perfect fit when Barnett chose it, and it turns out the song was a starting point for Barnett’s debut full-length, which will presumably be out later this year.
