The town is located on the southwest slope of the Sierra de Bujalcayado mountain range. Situated at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, it experiences a cold climate in winter and mild summers. Traditionally, this natural environment has shaped the way of life of its inhabitants, who have relied primarily on agriculture and livestock farming. Furthermore, its relatively isolated location meant that access to the town was difficult for many years, which also influenced its development and population. The origins of Bujalcayado are very ancient. Like many towns in Castile, it emerged during the medieval repopulation, when territories that had been under Muslim rule began to be settled by Christian inhabitants.
