How does a Fresh water Generator work 101
A freshwater generator on a ship converts seawater into freshwater using vacuum distillation or reverse osmosis. In vacuum distillation, seawater is heated and boiled at a low temperature under vacuum conditions, allowing it to evaporate and separate from the salt. The steam is then condensed back into freshwater, which is collected and stored for use. The remaining saltwater, or brine, is discharged back into the sea. Reverse osmosis, an alternative method, forces seawater through a membrane to filter out salt and impurities. Both processes ensure a reliable supply of freshwater for the crew.
