رئيس مصر يدافع عن الإسلام والمسلمين في الأمم المتّحدة
Egypt's President Defends Islam and Muslims at the United Nations Highlights of President Dr. Mohamed Morsi's speech to the United Nations in New York today: Our state is now built on justice, freedom, and democracy. The Arab Spring revolutions came after a long struggle for pride and dignity. The Palestinian cause must be a top priority at the United Nations. The fruits of freedom and dignity must not be far from the Palestinian people, regardless of the justifications. I call on the international community to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to build their independent state. The bloodshed and tragedy in Syria must stop immediately. The brotherly Syrian people must receive international support to achieve their freedom. We are all responsible for the Syrian crisis, and Egypt is committed to continuing efforts to end this tragedy. We seek to end the Syrian crisis within the framework of the Arab League and support the UN envoy to prevent foreign interference. Egypt will work with its Arab brothers to build a new Syria that can fulfill its role in the Arab world. Egypt will work to make the Islamic Summit a starting point. Sudan needs international support more than ever. The people of Somalia are passing through the transitional phase and electing a president, which requires international support to build state institutions. The peoples of the Arab region will not tolerate injustice after achieving their freedom. The countries of the Arab region will not allow the existence of a state outside the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons or other treaties. Egypt calls for a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction without exception. Egypt supports the rights of Arab and regional peoples to access peaceful nuclear energy. Egypt supports the right of African peoples to preserve and protect their wealth. Serious work must be done to preserve the international order and forge a new world based on freedom and justice. Reforming the General Assembly and the Security Council must be a top priority for world leaders. The discrimination and attacks on Muslims and immigrants are unacceptable. We will not allow anyone to attack the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings be upon him), and we oppose those who do so. The Security Council and the General Assembly must assume their responsibility to stop organized campaigns to attack the sanctities of Islam. Egypt supports freedom of expression, not attacks on the sanctities of Islam. There is an urgent need for new international economic governance centered on peoples and based on the integration of interests. I look forward with great optimism and anticipate a peace that gives everyone their full rights and makes no distinction between anyone. This peace will only come about if we all cooperate and realize that we are all equal. #President #Morsi #UnitedNations #New York #UN #USA #ajmmisr Speech by the Egyptian President before the United Nations, September 26, 2012 New York - USA Wednesday: September 26, 2012 Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr / ajmmisr
