Solo Climbing: Petzl Grigri self-belay WITHOUT climbing

I use this technique when I need to get to the top quickly without a belayer. It does not work well on over-hang or roofs. It is a great option to retrieve gear, if it has suddenly rained and the route is unclimbable. On this climb, I used the grigri self-belay without climbing to clean the moss off our route so my climbing partner, Paige Mundy, could be free while I was up there. We are always careful not to damage the rock while cleaning it. We were working on a 5.12b in Jackson Falls on the Wizard Wall. This crag is in Southern Illinois I do not intend this to be a how-to video. It is a record of what I did on this particular day and climb. Climb at your own risk, use common sense, and be safe. I welcome dialog, so please add your comments!! Thanks for watching!!
