Our New Open-Source ColorMix Model in PrusaSlicer and EasyPrint + OpenPrintTag Material Database!

We’re releasing a new version of PrusaSlicer and EasyPrint that can do ColorMix 3D printing. With Prusa ColorMix, you can mix filament colors by alternating thin layers, unlocking many more colors from the filaments already loaded in your multi-material printer. We built our own color mixing model, calibrated against real FDM prints, and it’s more accurate than the solutions that were available so far. It’s open-source on GitHub under the MIT license. This release also connects to the new OpenPrintTag Material Database, which helps the model work with real filament data and will keep improving as more materials are added. Huge thanks to the community for kicking this whole movement into gear, especially ‪@ratdoux‬, @justin-rabh, ‪@wombley‬ and ‪@huntercook‬ for their work on Full Spectrum printing, filament-mixer, and PeggyPalette.
