Future-Proofing Supply Chains: Circular Strategies for a Volatile World
Global supply chains are under pressure from multiple directions: geopolitical disruption, resource scarcity, climate events and tightening regulatory frameworks. For organisations that have built their operations around linear, cost-optimised models, the cracks are becoming harder to ignore. Resilience is no longer a risk management footnote; it is a strategic imperative. This webinar examines how circular strategies can serve as a practical foundation for supply chain agility, reducing exposure to material volatility, strengthening supplier relationships and creating the flexibility needed to adapt as conditions continue to shift. Where linear models concentrate risk, circular approaches distribute it: through material recovery, closed-loop procurement, product longevity and design for disassembly. Our speakers will draw on real-world experience navigating supply chain transition in fast-moving environments, exploring how organisations are building durability into their operations without sacrificing commercial performance. From procurement redesign to materials strategy and logistics innovation, the conversation moves beyond theory to examine what agile, circular supply chains actually look like in practice. Speakers Dr Mayuri Wijayasundara — Founder & Director, Anvarta Dr Mayuri Wijayasundara is a leading expert in strategy and transformation, specialising in the enablers of transition towards a circular economy. She leads Anvarta, a management consulting practice that advocates for the circular economy and helps organisations navigate their transition. Her experience spans more than 20 years as a business practitioner, scholar and advisor, with hands-on work across the manufacturing, resource recovery, construction and building materials sectors. As a practitioner, Mayuri held senior roles and led programs in strategic planning, business process and systems development, and supply chain management, both in Australia and internationally. She was previously a tenured academic at Deakin University, leading multiple circular economy research programs until 2021, where she served as Deakin Lead Investigator and Chief Investigator for the Australian Research Council–funded Industrial Transformation Research Hub (TREMS). She has also been engaged as a Circular Economy Expert at UN Habitat, and contributes to acclaimed international forums, including the World Economic Forum. Chris Dart — Program Lead, Waste & Circular Economy, Hunter Joint Organisation Chris Dart is the Circular Economy Program Lead at the Hunter Joint Organisation, bringing extensive experience in project leadership and sustainability initiatives across the government sector. He has worked on programs addressing contaminated land, disaster resilience, circular economy and waste, with earlier roles as a Sustainability Engagement Officer at Lake Macquarie City Council and as an Environmental Consultant before that. At the Hunter JO, Chris helps drive circular economy initiatives across the region's ten member councils — including the Circular Precincts and Futures Hub project, which explores opportunities to bring circular materials processing, renewable energy and value-added industries into reality across the Hunter.
