Colorado Joint Line 1984! In 1984, three railroads operated over Colorado's Joint Line between Denver and Pueblo. They were the Rio Grande, Santa Fe and Burlington Northern railroads. At the time, BN was borrowing motive power from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad (MKT). The SD40-2 and C30-7 were the standard diesel locomotives on most mainline trains, as well as Rio Grande's tunnel motor variation, the SD40T-2. Every train still traveled with a caboose on the end.
